A Little About Me

I was born right in the middle of the Xennial Generation on a cold January morning in 1980. I believe our strange experiences as a generation uniquely qualify us to compare the pre-internet era to the modern age, and my channel aims to do just that.

I am not a philosopher by trade. My undergraduate degree was in CyberSecurity, Most of my professional career has been spent as a Penetration Tester (aka ethical hacker), wherein companies paid me to break into their networks to show them the vulnerabilities that bad actors might exploit to attack them. It was fun, but NOTHING like the movie that inspired me, “Sneakers.” It was a LOT of report writing and performing tests that took hours or days to complete. On top of this, no one ever really fixed the problems. It was like another movie I love, “Groundhog’s Day,” and I have since moved into the startup world to help companies fix the problems so many ignore.

But enough about that. The point is that my frustrations with the lack of security led me to psychology, sociology, and philosophy as a way to understand better the users that are the root of all the problems. This, coupled with my obsessive nature, led me down a decades-long path of learning as much as I possibly could about humans and other perspectives.

This deep passion for the subjects I cover here, coupled with a lifelong love of all things related to how people respond and behave, has led me to create this channel to share - what I hope is - thoughtful, helpful, and stimulating essays about various related topics.

If you read all this, thanks! I have a lot more life lessons and stories I hope to share on this channel one day. But, it will need to get to a point where it makes my living before I can do that. Most of the good stories and lessons I’ve learned are NSFW and I don’t want to lose my job yet ;-).
